| Introduction Melverley is situated in a quiet road on a hill above Dartmouth. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavour to help. Pre-Arrival There is a bus stop 400 yards from our front entrance and a frequent bus service. The nearest main line train station is Totnes approximately 20 minutes away by car. There are several local taxi companies. The cost of a single 2 minute taxi journey between Dartmouth town and Melverley House is around £3.50. We have a website with photographs of each guest room – all on the first floor. You can contact us by phone or email(details below). Arrival and Car Parking facilities There is one car parking space per booking on a level paved drive to the right of the main entrance. An Automatic light with sensor provides good lighting. Assistance with luggage is always offered to all guests. To ensure we are here to welcome you please advise of your anticipated arrival time. On arrival please ring the front door bell to gain access. Main Entrance There is a step of 18cm from the drive to the front door. Please ring the bell to the right hand side of the porch. When guest registration is completed we will show you to your room, assisting with luggage if required, and explain the facilities available. The porch is lit at night with additional lighting on motions sensors. Public Areas - Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc. The entrance hall leads in to inner hall and stairs to the first floor landing. There are fifteen stairs, 20cm high and 98cm wide. The entrance hall has a wood laminate floor with rug, all other areas are carpet apart from the bathrooms for each bedroom which are tiled. The first floor landing gives access to Summer Breeze to the left at the top of the stairs. Immediately facing is the private bathroom for Summer Breeze and to the right is the door to Forget-me-not. There is a ships bell at the bottom of the stairs for guests requiring attention. The house is centrally heated and additional heaters are also supplied to each bedroom. Bedrooms and Bathrooms Both guest bedrooms are on the first floor and therefore not suitable for wheelchair access. Each bedroom has its own individual key and a key to the main entrance door to the house. Each room is supplied with facilities for making tea coffee and hot chocolate. In addition each room has a refrigerator with fresh milk and bottled mineral water included. Each room also has a hairdryer with salon length leads and a wall mounted flat screen television with remote control and access to Free view channels as available. An alarm clock is provided and an Iron and Ironing board can be supplied on request. Each room has a folder which contains further information about the house, Fire precautions bus timetables and taxi numbers. |
Forget-me-not The width of the bedroom door is 75cm and the ensuite door 67cm.This room has an antique style brass bed. The mattress is high quality pocket sprung with a top layer of memory foam for comfort. The height to the top of the mattress is 80cm. The bed is made up with duvet and four pillows and is accessible from either side. There are two large side tables with individual bedside lamps. There is also a breakfast table and two chairs. The height of the table is 74cm.There is a wardrobe 101cm wide with full mirror front. There is a smoke detector linked to the fire alarm system installed August 2008. The ensuite bathroom measures 224x135 excluding the shower cubicle and there is one step up to the shower of 14cm. The shower cubicle 135x85 has a glass sliding door. The WC height is 39cm and the basin is 83cm There is an electric heated towel rail(care as this can get hot) and an electric fan heater each with isolator switches just outside the bathroom door. There is an opaque glass window and extractor fan for ventilation. Summer Breeze The width of the bedroom door is 75cm. There is a Super King size bed which is zip linked and can convert to two single beds if required. The height to the mattress is 60cm and it is accessible from both sides. The bed is made up with a duvet and four pillows, if separated two single duvets are provided. There is a shelf to one side and a side table to the other, each with individual bedside lamps, as well as a central light fitting. This room has a balcony accessed by french doors 180 high and 105 wide. with a step 9cm high. Two folding chairs and a folding table are supplied for use on the balcony. There is a breakfast table 74cm high and two chairs double wardrobe and chest of drawers. The bathroom door for Summer Breeze is immediately adjacent to the bedroom door and measures 68cm. The floor of the bathroom tiled with under floor heating and measures 202x178 excluding bath. There is a bath with power shower over, basin bidet and WC. The height of the bath is 55cm WC 39cm basin 86cm and bidet 39cm. There is a towel rail heated when central heating is on and an electric fan heater over the door. Additional Information There is a mains powered integrated fire alarm system throughout the house. Please advise us if you have a hearing impediment and might not hear this signal. The building can be evacuated via the main entrance door. If this is not possible there is an alternative exit via the rear door in the kitchen. We do not permit smoking in the house or grounds. Mobile phone reception is generally good and Wi Fi is available for laptop use. Future Plans To furnish entrance hall and turn into reception area. Contact Information
